The more aware you are of your female dog's cycle, the better prepared you will be there will be physical and behavioral changes that could occur during her heat cycle. You will notice different changes, and they may include some of the following signs:
- Change in tail position
- Bloody or straw-colored discharge from the vulva
- Agitated, nervous, or aggressive behavior
- Excessive licking of the genital area
- Receptive to male dogs
- Urinating more frequently
- Swollen vulva
